work...family...babies...weekends

Well folks...I've been gone for a while. And there is really no excuse.

I had wanted to keep everyone posted of the whereabouts of the fam...but I failed.

The thing is, I went back to work May 7th. The transition has not been nearly as bad as I thought it would be. In some ways, it's actually been nice. I'm working an abbreviated schedule...4 days/week, 9am - 4pm. Since I work an hour away from home, this leaves the boys in daycare only from about 7:45 to 5:00. And I have Fridays off (woohoo!). I usually take the boys to daycare in the morning and do things that I need to do/are easier to do by myself (this includes: run shopping errands, get my oil changed, go for a really long run, doing some chores, or just laying in the hammock...which I did on my first day off. It was silent and glorious).

We took the boys to daycare the week before I went back to work to make the transition a bit easier. For any new moms, I recommend this whole-heartedly. It made my first day back at work nice, instead of me making multiple trips to the bathroom to alternately call and check on the boys and cry (both of which I was able to do at home the week BEFORE I went back to work...see how that works?).

Then...we got sick. All of us. First it was me, then the two babes, and then the hubs. It was not until THIS PAST WEEKEND (that's right...4 weeks) that we've all started to feel better. The hubs still has some remnants of the doosie of a cold, but he's on his way to recovery.

So, there ya go. That's what we've been doing. We tried to take advantage of the long weekend by taking the boys to the beach (which they fell asleep for) and doing other fun things (which is basically laying on the floor and kicking their legs around for four month olds). But we had a nice time.

I'm really looking forward to weekends now. Our kids are AWESOME! They're smiling and cooing and holding their heads up. Last night, I actually had some time in the evening to do something...something other than take care of anyone. I didn't know what to do, so I read a book. Not a bad choice, mind you, but I'm excited that there's time...like extra time.

The new normal is setting in...and it's pretty great.

And...for some visual stimulation.

  1. I stumbled upon your blog and just had to comment...I think it's amazing how working moms who have to be somewhere at a certain time juggle being a mother, wife and work in the "real world"! It's amazing to me and you seem to be doing a fabulous job! Your little ones are just precious btw.
